Med. dent. Ky-Lie Tan

Ky-Lie Tan joined our practice recently as an integrative biological dentist and medicine researcher.

She is the founder and owner of the personal, preventative and holistic dental practice “Integrative Dentistry Center” in Amsterdam. With previous experience in both general and biological dental practices, she works with ceramic implants, PRF, ozone, neural therapy, invisalign and electro-acupuncture by Dr. Voll. She has also researched the link between chronic silent inflammation of the jawbone (often called NICO’s or FDOJ’s) and chronic diseases.

Ky-Lie Tan graduated in dentistry from the Vrije University of Amsterdam (VU) in 2015. Being raised by two medical doctors practising acupuncture, this former Dutch chess champion is capable in analysing complex medical cases very holistically. As a result, her Final Master Case Presentation was awarded best of all dental master students and was integrated in the masters curriculum.

Her aim is to build a bridge between western and holistic / complementary medicine by developing a philosophical basis for integrative medicine. To this goal, Ky-Lie Tan enrolled in a second master degree in Management, Policy Analysis and Entrepreneurship in Health and Life Sciences at the VU in 2014. Her thesis, which introduces an integrative health theory and framework, was awarded Best Master Thesis of the Bèta Faculty of the VU in 2019 and is the fundament of her PhD research on integrative medicine.

Her mission is to stimulate optimal health, hence her nickname “Kyzen” (derived from the Japanese “Kaizen”), which means “always in improvement”. To this aim, Ky-Lie Tan has studied Chinese medicine, biological dentistry and ceramic implantology, integrative Medicine, electro-acupuncture by Dr. Voll, Poliquin’s Biosignature Modulation, personal training and functional neurology for advanced yoga teachers. She has experience with functional and complementary medicine, nutrition, lifestyle, positive psychology, homoeopathy, TCM, kinesiology, meditation, yoga and personal fitness.

Next to German, Ky-Lie Tan speaks fluent English and Dutch. Optimistic and social, she loves working with patients of all ages and backgrounds, for example young children and patients with dental fear.
